The Collaboratory is a state-of-the art research communication hub that provides opportunities for researchers to use technology to connect humanities-based skills and knowledge to real-world problems. The laboratory includes the DeWitt Gallery, a flexible public venue for educational displays in both traditional and digital formats; a Collaboration room where researchers can share ideas related to the intersection of humanities and technology; and a digital production room with a video studio and professional audio equipment.

Hours

The Collaboratory will be open during the following times for the fall 2025 semester.

  • Mon: 9-11; 12-3
  • Tue: 8-11; 3:30-4:30
  • Wednesday: 1-3
  • Thursday: 8-11; 1-3:30
  • Fri: 8-12

Missouri S&T alumna and faculty member Dr. Petra DeWitt has established a $100,000 endowment to support the S&T Collaboratory, a new digital humanities lab in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business.

Missouri S&T students create digital story map to trace Trail of Tears journey

Students in Dr. Justin Pope’s Native American History course at Missouri S&T developed the story map last spring as a research project that was supported through a grant from the Missouri Humanities Council (MHC). The MHC grant paid for technology and touchscreens that exhibit the story map in Missouri S&T’s new Collaboratory. The agency also created a website to host the digital exhibit.
